About Us

Play Wales is an independent charity funded by Welsh Assembly Government through the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills - our area of charitable remit is Wales.

We have been closely involved in drafting the national Play Policy (2002) and in providing recommendations for Play in Wales (2006) the Welsh Assembly Play Policy Implementation Plan.
 

In 2006 we were contracted to work with BIG Lottery Fund in Wales to deliver the Child's Play Programme as part of the Healthy Families Initiative.  This contract closes in August 2009.

In 2007 we were granted funds from Welsh Assembly Government to establish a national centre for education and training in playwork Playwork Wales.
