Play Associations
Play Associations come in all shapes and sizes, from neighbourhood associations, where a community group come together to run a summer play scheme or fundraise for a new play area, to county and regional associations that provide a range of services and aim to effect changes to local policy and strategy relating to play. The origins of play associations can be traced back to the growth of playwork provision in the 1970s when it was recognised that, in order to provide for childrens play, it was beneficial to have a group of like-minded individuals who could fundraise, provide advice, advocate for play and support the resourcing of provision.
